About the Opportunity

As we prepare for the upcoming summer season, Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre has an exciting opportunity for Sous Chefs and Chef de Partie/Banquet Cooks to join our food and beverage team in Sun Peaks, BC on a full-time, seasonal basis

Sous Chefs and Chef de Partie/Banquet Cooks will work alongside their peers from all over the world as you create an atmosphere that delivers culinary experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.

As a Sous Chef, your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the culinary team in an assigned kitchen
  • Leading the kitchen department in all aspects of safe food handling, food preparation, quality and quantity control measures
  • Ensuring the assigned food station is up to department standards and equipment meets health and safety standards  
  • Building and communicating daily specials of 4-star quality, which align with the vision for the restaurant
  • Providing ongoing coaching to culinary team members, and assisting service during peak periods

As a Chef de Partie/Banquet Cook, your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Operating a designated station in an assigned kitchen
  • Responsible for all aspects of safe food handling, food preparation, quality and quantity control measures, and execution of dishes
  • Working on high-volume events with speed and consistency, ensuring quality of all dishes remains high
  • Communicating clearly and effectively with all F&B team members, ensuring operational information is passed along to all shift leaders

More About You

To qualify for a Sous Chef position, you will have a minimum of three years of culinary experience, preferably within a Hotel/Resort environment.

For this role, you must:

  • Have a Red Seal Certification or Degree in Culinary Arts
  • Hold a current Food Safe Level 1 Certification
  • Have a thorough understanding of kitchen operations  
  • Have a sincere desire to provide an elevated guest experience
  • Be proactive with tasks, and multitask and prioritize, based on volume
  • Be physically capable of working in a fast-paced environment and safely lifting heavy loads of around 20kg

To qualify for a Chef de Partie/Banquet Cook position, you will have a minimum of two years of culinary experience, preferably within a Hotel/Resort environment. The ideal candidate will also have some production and banquet experience.

For this role, you must:

  • Be working towards a career in culinary or a Red Seal Certification
  • Hold a current Food Safe Level 1 Certification
  • Have a well-rounded understanding of kitchen operations
  • Have a self-disciplined sincere desire to provide an elevated guest experience
  • Be able to manage how varying business volumes impact kitchen operations
  • Be physically capable of working in a fast-paced environment and safely lifting heavy loads of around 20kg
